Richard Branson, multi-billionaire and The Virgin Group founder, has decided that people should be able to take time off of work – whenever they want, and for as long as they want.

So let me rephrase: Richard Branson, super-cool guy (that I wish was my friend), is the best boss in the world.

In his new book The Virgin Way: Everything I know About Leadership, Branson says, “It is left to the employee alone to decide if and when he or she feels like taking a few hours a day, a week or a month off.”

Branson has introduced this “non-policy” under the assumption that his staff will only take time off when they feel comfortable that their absence will not damage the rest of the team, the business as a whole or their personal careers.

He was inspired by the company Netflix, who have a similar “non-policy” and do not track employee vacation time.

“I have a friend whose company has done the same thing and they’ve apparently experienced a marked upward spike in everything –- morale, creativity and productivity have all gone through the roof,” Branson recalled his daughter telling him.

Branson is known for “trying to make the impossible, possible”, and I, for one, am a huge fan. Check out the video below to see Branson in action.
