Melissa is known best for her work in the hit shows “Clarissa Explain it All” and “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch”. She began acting at the age of four in television commercials for a bathtub toy called Splashy. She had a small role in the miniseries “Kane & Able”. She was also the understudy for the Broadway production of “The Crucible”. She landed her role in “Clarissa Explains it All” in 1991. She was nominated for the Young Artist Award four times and won three of them. In 1995 Hart filmed “Clarissa” for CBS, but the pilot was never aired. She also appeared on “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” in 1991. She then went to NYU, but did not finish her degree because she got the role of Sabrina in the 1996 movie “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch”. She starred in the TV series and provided the voice for the Aunts in the animated version.
These days Hart can be seen on the hit ABC Family sitcom “Melissa & Joey”, which she has been on since 2010. She was on the off-Broadway production of “Love, Loss, and What I Wore” for four weeks. She took part in an ad campaign for Gain Laundry Soap in 2010 along with her former “Sabrina” co-star Soleil Moon Frye. In 2010 she was present at the International Emmy Awards. In 2013 Hart used the website Kickstarter to try and fund a romantic comedy titled “Darci’s Walk of Shame”, but the project did not reach its intended goal and all the pledge money was returned. She married Mark Wilkerson in Italy in 2003; their marriage was part of a miniseries called “Tying the Knot”. They have three sons together and were featured in “People Magazine” in 2008. Hart also wrote a diary about trying to potty train her son for the “Pull-Ups” brand of diapers.
