The Oxford English Dictionary defines Monday as, “The worst day of the week. 100 percent the worst day anyone could ever experience. Okay, so that’s not even close to an actual bonafide listing, but considering the near-universal hatred that exists for poor little Monday morning, it might as well be. So what’s a guy or gal to do when faced with the unavoidable beginning of the dreaded work week? In an effort to turn that frown upside down, here are 10 ways to beat those soul-crushing Monday blues.

1. Ease Out of the Weekend Gradually

Much like running full speed into a brick wall (figuratively speaking, of course), trying to squeeze every last bit of awesome out of your weekend can make getting up bright and early Monday morning much worse than it needs to be. Recognize Sunday as a “school night” and plan accordingly; by nixing late-night plans and heading to bed at an appropriate time, you’ll help yourself mentally prepare to get back in to your work week routine.
