Prepare the pasta according to instructions on the package.
While the pasta boils, bring a pan to medium high heat and add the olive oil, butter, cabbage, onion, and pepper. Season with salt and pepper.
Cook for a few minutes until the onion begins to look transparent. Add the garlic, sauté for a minute, and then add the soy sauce and water. Stir while it continues to cook. Cook until the cabbage is al dente.
Remove the boiling pasta. Drain and rinse. Return to the empty pot and add the cabbage mixture.
Combine the pasta and cabbage and season with more salt and pepper if needed.
Serve with a grating of parmesan cheese and fresh cherry tomatoes.
