Oh to be a kid again. Those were the days when you more than likely didn’t have any of those pesky “romantic feelings” that plague and fill most adults with a sense of awkwardness and uncertainty. Even if you were a kid who had a crush, it wasn’t half as complicated as navigating the world of adult love. None of this pesky dating business, or reading waaay too much into people’s throwaway remarks or wondering why the heck he or she hasn’t replied to your texts yet. Nay, if you’re a kid with a crush you deal with it by writing a swift and to-the-point note to said crush about how you feel and what you would like to do about it, like so:
The note, which was dictated by 4-year-old Bennet and typed up by his mother, reads:
Will you please come to my house? Let’s play together. I think you are pretty like a horse or a ladybug. I’m not sure which. You should come to my house and eat cheeses with me. I love you and I lost a tooth last night. I think I would like to do a magic trick for you and then let you watch me battle robots.
Simple, yet effective, isn’t it? The love letter was posted on Reddit last week and has since gone viral. According to Today, Bennet’s mother Jennifer Skinner has said that the recent attention is a welcome distraction for the young boy, who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of just 6 months. They’re hoping that Bennet will be declared cancer free at his next check-up.
We really hope so too. We also hope that Baily finds it in her heart to reply to Bennet’s thoughtful letter and join him in the eating of good cheeses, the kind of date that us love-struck adults can only dream of.
