Movie veteran DEBBIE REYNOLDS has been hospitalised following reports she suffered a stroke the day after the death of her daughter CARRIE FISHER.
The actress was at her son Todd Fisher’s home on Wednesday (28Dec16) when she fell ill and was taken by ambulance to a local emergency room, according to TMZ.
The 84-year-old is mourning the loss of her daughter, who suffered a massive heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles last week (23Dec16) and never regained consciousness.
Sources tell TMZ Reynolds was discussing her daughter’s funeral arrangements with her son when she became ill just after noon.
The Singin’ in the Rain star posted a message to fans, thanking them for their support, following her daughter’s death on Tuesday (27Dec16).
“Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter,” Debbie wrote on Facebook. “I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop.”
Reynolds previously tried to assure the Star Wars icon’s fans she was going to be OK, stating her daughter was in a “stable condition” on Sunday (25Dec16).
The actress was also mourning the death of her friend Zsa Zsa Gabor, who passed away on 18 December (16) after suffering a heart attack.
It has been another painful Christmas for Debbie, who spent the holidays last year (15) recovering from back surgery that forced her to miss the presentation of the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences annual gala. The actress pulled out of the ceremonial gala on the eve of the event in November, 2015, revealing she would be unable to accept the prize in person.
