60. 1953 Porsche 550

Both a race and a road car, the Porsche 550 was one of the most successful race cars of the early 1950s. It usually finished in the top 3 in any race it competed in. The most famous of the 550s was James Dean’s ‘Little Bastard’ which he fatally crashed in 1955. The 550 is one of the most often replicated classic cars ever. The top speed of the car was 140 mph.

59. 1967 Pontiac GTO

The Pontiac GTO was the first car to put a 400 cubic inch V-8 engine under its hood. It marked the start of muscle cars as it roared with 360 horsepower. Before heads could turn to gaze at this amazing beast it was gone. This car paved the way for other muscle cars as it grabbed favorable reviews worldwide. Various manufacturers began to compete for fitting engines which could produce above 450 lb-ft of torque. But before the world was taken over by Shelby, Buick and others, the Pontiac GTO was the fuel pumping monster which ruled the roads.
